SLC studies reveal: More than 20 million euros in regional economic effects for the city of Duisburg from two major sporting events

"The studies are an incentive for us to bring more major events to Duisburg," says Uwe Kluge (Managing Director of Duisburg Kontor) about the studies by SLC Management on the regional economic effects of major sporting events for the city of Duisburg. The studies show regional economic effects of more than 20 million euros for both major events - around 6.3 million euros for the Canoe World Championships on the regatta course last August and almost 14 million euros for the European League of Football final between Stuttgart Surge and Rhein Fire in September 2023 in the sold-out Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena.

eps ARENA SUMMIT 2021 | Round-Up SLC Forum "Corona and the consequences - Data Insights: Stadium attendance and fan experience today and tomorrow".

In around 20 forums with over 70 speakers, currently relevant pain topics of the industry were discussed and interesting and valuable thought-provoking impulses and insights for future projects were provided. Clearly, this year's industry meeting for the stadium and arena business focused on the all-dominant topic of the past months - the Corona pandemic and its short- and long-term consequences. SLC was also represented again together with Stadionwelt with its own forum on the topic of "Corona and the consequences - Data Insights".

SLC Management @ eps ARENA SUMMIT 20 Online-Congress

The eps ARENA SUMMIT 2020 will take place on November 18 and 19. do not take place as a face-to-face event as originally planned. An early online congress will show some highlights on November 18, 2020, and the third on-site event for the stadium and arena business will be postponed to March 23 and 24, 2021.

Fans advocate restricted return to the stadiums

In a representative survey, we asked more than 5,000 Bundesliga fans about spectators at major events and the start of European club competitions, among other things. In Germany, all major events are prohibited until at least August 31. According to the decision of the Federal Government on June 17, events where contact tracking and compliance with hygiene regulations is not possible should not even take place until at least the end of October 2020. For this reason, the German professional leagues are currently working on concepts that should enable spectators to return soon.
